New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 73 runs in the first match of the three-match ODI series.
Pakistan won the toss and invited New Zealand to bat on Saturday in Napier, New Zealand, and scored 344 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted 50 overs.
The host team did not start the batting very well and the first wicket fell for just eight runs when Will Young was dismissed for just one run and after that Nick Kelly and Henry Nicholls also returned to the field soon after, they scored 15 and 11 runs respectively.
